This collection of handwoven tapestries draws from the ancestral traditions, symbols, and landscapes of Sámi culture in Lapland — Europe’s northernmost Indigenous people. Each piece is a meditation on the textures of snow and tundra, the rhythm of reindeer migrations, and the sacred geometry embedded in duodji (traditional Sámi craft). I was inspired by the elaborate patterning and detail found in traditional Sámi dress and how each pattern relates to a distinct family name, and created a set of tapestries that would reflect that of the Carr / Molander family as my mothers ancestry is rooted in Northern Finland. While inspired by the Arctic North, these works find new resonance here in Ibiza—a land equally steeped in natural rhythms, spiritual histories, and artisanal heritage. The connection between these distant geographies lies in their shared respect for land, simplicity, and identity expressed through the handmade.

Handwoven tapestries made at Central Saint Martins on a 24 shaft dobby loom using recycled cotton, recycled wool, mohair, flower stems and raffia paper.

Sold as a set of 5 tapestries.

Exhibited at the Giri Café in Sant Joan, Ibiza in collaboration with Inbetween Ibiza Gallery.
